On the road again

Well, this is another short and crazy week for me!  It seems like I just unpacked my suitcase from my last trip. I was in Knoxville recently to speak at a new show put on by the Pet Stylists of Tennessee Association. It was a fun event and everyone was very enthusiastic about the attendance and the speakers and demonstrations. Now it's of to New Jersey for the Intergroom show. This will be a very exciting show for me and my staff. I am giving three presentations during the show and Saturday during my lecture on applied anatomy, Morgan, a Doberman pinscher will be my "live" model. Applied Anatomy focuses on how crucial it is to understand canine anatomy and how it affects the grooming process. Anatomy is more than bones, tendons and muscles, the correct use of anatomical reference points for proper grooming and styling  techniques is what separates good groomers from GREAT groomers. Canine anatomy, in my opinion, is one of the most elementary components of any grooming or styling professionals core education. This is one of the reasons I wrote both "Notes from the Grooming table" and "Theory of Five."

This show will be extra busy, two members of my training staff, Misty Fowler and Jennifer Hecker will both be competing as well. Misty is a GroomTeam member and will be competing with her poodle, she is also the proud owner of Morgan, the Doberman who I will be using in my lecture. Jennifer will be showing in several different classes and is planning on not sleeping until Monday when the show is done and gone.  Hope to see you at Intergroom, if not drop me an email or phone call to say Hi!  Remember we are kicking off our new Distance Learning and Salon Mentoring programs this weekend as well. These two new programs are based on my books and training programs from the Paragon School of Pet Grooming. Now, using the training DVD's and the online learning system, everyone can learn at their own pace without having to go to a "hands on" grooming school. Salon owners can have a complete training system at their finger tips!!
